Sencha
The method of making high quality Sencha today was invented by Nagatani Soen in Uji Tawara in the 18th century. This method spread all over Japan and Sencha has now become the most popular tea in Japan. Tea leaves are grown in tea plantations with a lot of sun shine. New sprouts are picked then steamed, and dried as they are kneaded.
